Dr. Steven Shu, MD, MBA, is a distinguished board-certified family physician and a laser surgeon specializing in surgical office procedures. With a career spanning over two decades, Dr. Shu offers a diverse range of procedural services that extend beyond conventional medicine, consistently performing numerous office procedures each year.

In 1984, Dr. Shu graduated from the esteemed Shanghai Medical University in China, marking the beginning of his healthcare journey. Following his surgical residency and experience as a surgical attending physician, he ventured to the United States in 1991. In New York, he completed a surgical internship at Flushing Hospital and later pursued family medicine residency training with a focus on office procedures at Michigan State University from 1996 to 2000. In 2005, he achieved his Physician E-MBA from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

Dr. Shu’s career progressed as he assumed the role of an office proceduralist within a large family practice group from 2002 to 2009. In 2008, he founded One Stop Medical Center, providing a wide range of office-based surgical procedure services. Concurrently, Dr. Steven Shu dedicated in the academic teaching for six years as a part-time assistant professor at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine.

His unwavering commitment to enhancing healthcare led him to champion the concept of procedure-oriented one-stop care. He staunchly advocates for the myriad advantages that office procedures bring, including affordability, convenience, efficiency, comprehensive care, and superior quality. He has been or was the member of the many professional organizations, including American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (2010 – 2019), American Medical Association (2004 – 2020), American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (2010 – 2020), American Academy of Family Physician, Minnesota Medical Association, and International Society of Cosmetogyncology.

Since 2003, Dr. Shu has actively engaged in community service, dedicating his time to establishing both the Association of Minnesota Chinese Physicians (AMCP) and the Minnesota Chinese Health Center (MCHC) — a free weekend clinic that has served the community for over a decade.

In 2014, Dr. Shu joined No-Scalpel Vasectomy International, Inc (NSVI), a global medical mission organization led by urologists, including Dr. Doug Stein in Florida. Since then, he has been a devoted participant in vasectomy missions.

In 2017, Dr. Shu founded the non-profit mission organization, Surgeon Volunteers, taking the lead in uniting Asian doctors from North America to embark on the Make Men Smile surgical mission program, aimed at treating filarial hydrocele patients in Haiti.

Over the past nine years, Dr. Shu has embarked on an impressive total of 17 medical mission trips to Haiti, Cambodia, and the Philippines, leaving an enduring impact on the lives of thousands of individuals through his compassionate and highly skilled medical interventions.
